Lead vocals / Keys / Acoustic Guitar

DJ was born in Birmingham, grew up in Blackpool and started out in music early. At 17 he was playing guitar and singing backing vocals in rock and roll bands before joining various pop and alternative bands as lead vocalist. Looking for fame and fortune he moved to London in the early 90s, to put a band together. They did the London gig scene playing  all the key venues in the Capital, but the band eventually folded. So, determined to keep pushing himself he spent the next 15 years singing and acting with a professional production company touring theatres up and down the country, which he says "was great fun" DJ moved north again and performed as a solo artist on the club and pub scene and even did cabaret before joining and fronting his brothers rock band in Scarborough. "Rehab" were hugely popular playing to pubs, clubs and functions as well as residences at a number of venues across North Yorkshire. DJ enjoys writing his own stuff too.

Guitar/BV's

Dave started dabbling with guitar as a kid but didn't get hooked until he was about 15 and picked up a Bass. He switched back to Guitar again a few years later and never looked back playing everything from Reggae to Blues by the early nineties. He played Reggae with Sons of Albion, popular covers with This Way Up, and many styles of Blues with Animal House and The Blues Boys. In 95 he took a long break from live music. Today though he has a great time playing live and hammering out the modern and classic rock  that makes No Way Out such a great band to see live.

Dave's Guitars
Dave plays an 87 ebony Les Paul Standard with pickups sent to Wizard Pickups for wax dipping to cure squeal at higher gain or volume, it  improved their tone too. He also plays an Ibanez SAS36FM  thats bloody loud for single coils!

Backline.                                                                                                                      Dave runs a rare old Session 15/30 1 x 12 Valve combo through a THD Hotplate  giving that great overdriven valve sound.  Then, a very early Sessionette 75 1 x 12  is sometimes linked to the line out from the Hotplate to fattens the sound a little  and add a few more decibels. Dave uses a Samson Q8 mic and Clear Tone cables from Award-Session and says they're Grrrrrreat.

At his feet  -  Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe, Vintage 70:s Original Colorsound Wah-Wah, EHX Big Muff PI Fuzz, VisualSound Route 66 Overdrive/Compressor, Rothwell Switchblade Distortion, EHX Holy Grail Reverb,  Boss CH-1: Super Chorus, Biyang AD10 analog delay and Korg Pitch Black Tuner. All fixed to a TRex Tone Trunk Pedal Board  powered by a DC power bank.

Pedals are wired...  Pitch Black, Micro Vibe,Wah-Wah,  Route 66, Big Muff, Switchblade, CH1, AD10, into Holy Grail.

Guitar/Vocals

The son of an accordion-playing band-leader and the grandson of a concert pianist, it was nailed on that Allan would tread the musical path. Growing up in Yorkshire, he worked his way through a succession of bands as guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, with record releases and support slots for some major rock acts on the way, including UFO and Def Lepperd. Following a move ‘darrn Souf’ in ’87, he set up No More Mr Nice Guy with Saddie, a blues & R’n’B powerhouse trio that must have played in every venue within 40 miles of Basingstoke(!) until their semi-retirement in 2006. By way of solo music, superb pop/rock band ‘Tuesday in Paris’, folk/roots recordings with ‘Out of the Woodshed’, and countless sessions, jams, and recordings for other artists, he’s finally been tempted back onto the rock circuit and is having a ball!!

Allans Guitars
Usually a 1984 E-series Fender Strat but has recently been spotted with a 1962-reissue Telecaster. Experiments with Gibsons persist (the latest, a rather delightful ES335) but “somehow he keeps coming back to Fenders”.

Backline. “Loves the valves, hates the back-ache!!” Allan currently flips between a Marshall Haze 40C,  VOX AC30CC1 (wonderful sound, weigh a ton) and a Bose L1 system with a POD XT going through it (loves the variety, hates the fiddling at gigs!). It’s really anyone’s guess at this time which will win out. Volunteer roadies, anyone?????

At his feet - Line 6 PodXT live, or Jim Dunlop CryBaby Wah and Boss BD2

Fretted and 5 string fretless Bass

He's the guy at the back very often stood with his eyes shut and his head back while still playing his arse off. Quite man Derek has played every kind of music imaginable and backed artist as divers as Cliff Richard and Gary Brooker of Procol Harum. He has an amazing list of recording credits which began in the 60's with an unimaginable line up of artists to long to mention here. As testiment to his playing skills, having played a number of sessions for some of their early singles he was invited to join Van Morrisons Them at only 17 when they left  to tour Europe as there chart career was starting. (Bet he kicks himself now) Fast forward to the 90's and he was one half of the rhythm section for local Blues heroes The Rod Garfield Blues Band .Derek is also an excellent Jazz bassist and occasionally plays with Terry of the Blues Band and some other great musicians as the Jazz Assassins .

Derek's Guitars. His main guitar is a Musicman Stingray although a 62 Fender Presision sees the light of day once in a while. He also has a 1 off custom made 5 string fretless by Dave King.

Backline. For amplification his weapon of decibels is a Peavey MkIV 400w head. This is run through two cabs. Firstly, at the bottom a Peavey 1 x 15" Blackwidow cab and on top a Peavey 410TX cab. And once in a while a Line6 LD150 combo that he slaves into a MkIV head with the 410TX cab.

At his feet   Line 6 FBV Express pedal board or Boss Octaver and a Rocktek Chorus.

Drums

The man at the back holding it all together with rock solid rhythms and that drivin' beat. Saddie has also been about and while and has played with Dave and Derek in other bands over the years. He's a busy guy and can be found at many of the jam sessions across the south from Basingstoke to London and down to Portsmouth. He plays some nice venues too. See him below at The Grey Horse, Kingston.

Dave has played with a number of big names over the years including Snowy White who was with Thin Lizzy and played on Pink Floyd's The Wall tour. Dave even auditioned for Status Quo when they were starting out. They were very impressed with his playing but he was quite young. They suggested he come back when he could wear long trousers!!
